If you care about resale, go with the JK. In peoples minds a TJ is a TJ, so it would be like driving off the lot in a brand new 10 year old jeep.

They keep making this bigger, it won't bee any narrower than a
full size pickup. What's next, a bench 60/40 seat?

Hey, Jeep offered a split front seat years ago.  I don't recall exactly when, but I've seen photos of them in CJ-5s and maybe even in CJ-3Bs.

People wanted more storage and they got it.  People wanted four doors and they got it.  They wanted a better designed hardtop and wall-ah!  Some wanted a "V" congfigured engine - Genie wiggled her nose.  Increased towing, some increased power, replaced tuperware dash with a dash of more quality, slightly more aerodynamic, new look, etc., etc.

Improvements were made.

Only real down side if you choose to get one would the be the 4X2 option.  Do not really see why this was needed.  It would be like Subaru making a non all wheel drive car.  It deviates from what the brand is built around.

Don't like it?  You have a 300 year supply of used TJ and TJ parts, 100 year supply of YJ, and 500 year supply of CJ's in the yards.  They'll be around forever more.

I love my TJ.

Those of us that have aging 2 wheel drive XJs will want the 2007 Unlimited! I'm not giving up my TJ, but the wifes Cherokee is getting old.

Exexpat93, you made part of my point just as I was about to put finger to keyboard. Why a 4x2? The Liberty then Compass foretold the story, and now a 4x2 Wrangler. OK, use the Jeep name for a on-road jeep lookalike, Miguel is right there's a market. But leave us the Wrangler as a true jeep - even with the placky bits (the fenders, OK, bumpers, no, IMO). But having a 2WD option removes the TJ/YJ/CJ and so on heritage. Real, transfer cased, 4WD is what that sort of jeep is about. A 2WD can never be a Wrangler, regardless of the skin and bones. Everyone's fussing about the Compass, but this is the real sell-out. Makes the H3 seem positively ethical.

Why not make a bit of a styling change and revive the Jeepster name for this sort of 4-door on-road vehicle, and leave the Wrangler as true off-road? Keep a bit of brand identity? A lot of marques have gone belly-up recently, and it seems to me because they didn't keep their identities, but just became a nameplate on a universal body. DCX is going the same way with Jeep, now it's producing 2WD Wranglers.

I'm gonna miss the straight six. That motor was a beast...

The Cherokee had a 2 wheel drive option for years and The Jeep name was not diminished. Some people, like me, like the JKL and dont care about having 4 wheel drive.
