I have the B&M short throw shifter in an '01. It has the NV3550 tranny like yours. The shifter is a little stiff. It takes some getting used to. Most people don't like it when they drive my Jeep, I'm OK with it. Also, it's shorter than stock. So if your Jeep has a transfer case lowering kit and/or a body lift the shifter will seem like it's on the floor. Also with a body lift/t-case lowering kit you will need to trim inside the console so it will shift properly. Overall shortens the shifter throws like it is supposed to but it also firms up the shifter movement, too much for some people.

Editor Cappa,

Thanks so much for your reply. i am sure you have heard it enough how great your mag is, but i really love it. Some people say one of their best mods is suspension, gears, lockers etc, but i think one of the best things you can do is purchase JP. Jp has taught me and given me so much valuable advice other mags couldnt, so thanks a lot. I go to Wake Forest University which is in North Carolina and my mom sends me your mag from 8 hours away in Pennsylvania. Talk about a great study break. My twin brother and i have been building up our jeep wrangler 4.0l  (manuel trany) for about a year in half. currently we have 3.5 inch suspension lift, 32x11.5 bfg ats, 4.10 gearing, super 35 kit with detroit rear (stop laughing at my axels i am a poor college student), a detroit truetrac front dana 30, bedliner interior, optima battery, intake, offraod bumpers, kc lights, and a few more mods. I plan on doing a banks header/ exhaust  upgrade and bigger tires in the ner future. Thanks for the input on the bm shifter!

Bryan

It is nice. I think I deliberately broke my OEM stick just as an excuse to get one.  Notchy'ier and tight.  No complaints in 2 years worth of driving with one.  It would really rock if I could get more speed out of my TJ.

Quadratec also has a 3 inch gear stick riser that might help in a body lift.  It is in the $15 range.  My B&M is still working for me - you just have to get used to it.  Looks better than stock in any case.
