I have a YJ.  I have a couple of fullsize axles from an older dodge leaf-spring truck, a D44F and a D60R, both with 4.11 gears.

Anyone know of a good write up or have some good info on a fullsize axle swap to a YJ?

I took the axels from a 1978 Dodge Power Wagon and put them in my rig. Of corse I had a 1961 Scout frame, Chevy V8, Ford T-18 transmission and Scout Dana 20 transfer case. I used Ford bronco front coils for the front and Jeep TJ front coils for the rear. $linked front and rear. By the way I installed a 1997 TJ tub, hood and grill. I also have a single ram full hydraulic high steering. The old Chev 327 V8 is running a Edelbrock multi point injection. Now for the fun part. I did this in my shop all by myself with no articles, just pictures of different rigs. It took me about 2 weeks of sitting in my shop just drawing pictures and thinking of what I wanted to acomplish. I grabed the tourch, cut off saw and welder and in about 3 more weeks I had a TJ sitting on 37in Boggers that will go anywhere that I want. I use it hard and the suspension works great.

Take your Jeep, put it on jack stands, take out the existing axels, slide the fullsize ones under it and look and see what you need to do to make them fit. The Dodge front axel has the pasanger side punkin so you will need a diferent transfer case.

If you can move the spring perches, it seams to me all you have to wory about would be the track bar and stearing linkages. If you want to dump the leaves for some fancy coil setup, now would be the time.

To Groo:      The YJ has a factory drivers side front pumpkin on the axel, The earlier Dodge axels have a pasanger side pumpkin. On the dodge front axel the pasanger side spring perch is cast into the third member housing and is extreamly hard to relocate. He will need to build outboard front spring perches, get a diferent transfer case and trans adapter and of corse two new new drivelines just to mention a few things that are needed..

The axles came out of a junked 86 dodge w250 that I bought for parts for my 86 Dodge W250 (body, interior, etc mostly).  I have what's left of the truck here at my house, which includes the NP 208, NP 435, and 360 4-bbl.  I am not crazy about the idea of putting the 360 in the jeep because I want to build it and swap it into my dodge pickup for towing and hauling and recovery stuff.  But that still leaves the tranny, transfer case, and axles.............

So I need to move the spring perches on the axles inboard to line up with those on the jeep (if I stay with leaves), swap in the tranny and transfer case behind my straight six (with an adapter)fabricate some sort of crossmember, fabricate some sort of hybrid steering setup, and have driveshafts made........that is do-able.

Is it worth it?  The wide axles would give me tons of stability and room for wide tires, but I would need some monster fender flares for street-legality, right?  Also, is it worth the effort to swap in a D44 front?  I don't have tons of power..............
I just want to see if it would be worth it before I pull out the torch and welder............

I could leave the old spring perch on the third member, just not use it, right?  Then just make a new one inboard for the narrower YJ frame?

You can not move the spring perches in because the third member is in the way. The best way is to build new frame mounts for the springs on the outside of the frame at the front. Here is an idea, take the Dana 44 front remove the long side C and narrow the axel housing and long side axel to fit your rig. I am not sure but it may be about the same price and would keep your track width close to what you have.  You could also cut down the rear to fit. You will need to take your existing axsls some plase to havr them cut down and resplined or have custom ones made.
