You should get a job(if you donot already) and buy it from him. Then it's up to you. I hope you appreciate it. I had to work for everything I got. All with bank loans. Good luck.

I have a good ? because i dont really know where to lean. My tj sits a lot lower in the front than in the back, from the front tire to the plastic fender flare it is 3 inches on the back its 4 1/2. I think this looks bad. In Jc Whitney I noticed a spring spacer that lifts the front 2 3/4 and the back 1 3/4 inch, if you do the math it comes out to be exactly level. The kit is by daystar and is 169. If im not mistaking it comes with bumpstops. My first ? is, is this a good idea. second is it a good lift. third do i need new shocks. fourth if so what kind(im thinking old man emu) for a good ride. And finally could me and my twin do this by ourselves and what would it take. my dad is a mechanic and he doesnt want to spend any extra time on my jeep.

usually they dont come with shocks.and if you are going to spend time doing that you should just save a little more and get a real lift kit.it will come with everything you need,shocks,coils,t-case drop, etc.if you want to run 33's get atleast 3 inch kit if not 4.some say it will rud with 3 inch and 33's,but i have never had a problem with it.its just not worth the effort for some spacers when in the end you really want a lift!and its easy to do with another person helping, follow instructions and you cant go wrong.

I say to hell with everyone else and just do it!! get some new offroad shocks, maybe from rusty's offroad, then buy bigger tires! 30 will fit and maybe 31's as well. Step 3 have fun!!! I think for your type of mostly street driveing this will be a good starter lift. You can always get a full suspention lift down the road when you can aford it.

just have fun!!!!!!! thats how you start. dont listen to anyone who tells you to spend tons of money even though you do in the long run , but let your JEEP progress with your driving ability or you dont aquire skill!!! spend your money on a hi-lift jack, the lift you mentioned was fine for a newbie, and maybe some traction, tires and then lockers and gears and then axels and then driveshafts and then a transfer case or two and it goes on and on and on.. whatever just go and have fun !!!

if you are gonna start to mod your jeep, better off doing it right the first time so you dont end up dumping money into a bunch of worthless lifts.unless you want a hack job jeep which it sounds like you are leaning towards.it takes money yes, better off doing it the way you want it one time than to pi$$ money away to get to where you want to be.if all you looking for is a little more for off-road at the time, just throw a set of 31' mud tires and some cheap black steelies and thats all you really need.a high lift is helpful, but thats pennies compared to what sombody will spend on a jeep

But again you need to realize it's not your jeep it's his. he has to do what's right for him and HIS budget. He's not building a hardcore offroad beast in the first place ,so why spend big money on a big lift that he dosen't need.

i know its his jeep,if it was me i would have done it instead of talking about it.but its the point of if all he wants to run is 31's,why even talk about a lift, you dont need it.all you need is the tires and go for a winch or armor, usefull things.and even if you have a small budget, thats when you save up and buy the real thing, instead of buying junk that dont last, that and safety, its not safe to cut corners because you pocket book isnt full and you want it a certian way.

there's nothing unsafe about spacers if they are intalled right. Donot believe me? that up to you but I donot think all the companys who make them are wrong. Just my 2 cents. Sure a "real" lift is always better but for street driveing not that inessasary.
