my jeep has no lift and i put 31" bfg ats and 15x8 steel wheels on it (my tires dont rub at all) it definatley needs a lift i told my dad that i wanted between a 4in with 33s or a 6 with 35 the answer was no. But not because a money issue it was that its too dangerous and he doesnt want to modify one thing and have to modify another then modify another thing he claims it will be a never ending process but i think if u do the suspension kit right it will be fine.
my ?s are is having a 4-6 in lift dangerous for a 16 year old driver?
also will putting a lift on my jeep mess the goemetry and make me modify it more and more and make me spend more and more money
and what kit would be absolutley the best for me remember im 16, on a budget, do mild crawling and mud everytime it rains.
my twin bro that i share the jeep with wants a 2 in old man emu cuz he claims they have the best ride

i got my first jeep when i was 15,they are not dangerous with a lift at all,its not a mustang,so u have to take it easy till u know how it flex's around corners.i would go with a skyjacker system,it comes with everything u would need,3' will hold 33' tires easy, thats what my last tj had and i never rubbed at all.but if u are gonna step up to 35' tires after awhile i would get a 4' lift kit.and when the time comes u can either do the cheap buget boost thing or a 1 inch body lift.but the taller u go the tires and wheels will make the jeep wider,i think they are more stable with 33' tires than stock.just get good offset wheels and u will be fine.but as to doing more and more......u will never wanna stop, there's always somthing new or differnt,or somthing to make it perform better.everybody and there mom has a stock wrangler,it needs a lift.the ome lift is 2 1/2 inch but actually comes out to be a 3,so u could run 33'inchers.body lifts are ok,retain stock ride, can run 33'with a 3 inch bl,but go suspension,it has all the parts to make it sound.my dad was the same way when i started in on my jeeps, but i told him this, its stock or lifted,i get hit in the side is it gonna make a differnce?head on too for that matter.and he agreed and started helping,he owns one now, well i think ive bored u enough with this, hope some of it helps

A jeep isn't a race car in stock form, so caution is always necessary when driving. When you lift it and put bigger tires on it there will be some noticeable changes in how it rides. The lift means that it will catch more air, wind will push it more and gas mileage will suffer. Depending on the kit, cornering will also take on a different personality. As far as the tires, remember they will be okay on dry pavement, and excellent off road, but add some rain or snow, and things change again. Puddles will pull you noticeably to one side and it'll slip and slide on wet roads. Mechanically, if you don't change the gearing, with bigger tires it'll be an off-the-line equivalent of a bus, so there's more money. The driveline will need to be altered if you lift it beyond 2.5". That said, if you drive sensibly, and understand these things, ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY. Enjoy a healthy addiction.

If my first ride was a jeep, lifted or stock, I would have rolled it several times. luckily I had a big low 79 Cougar. what a boat. I believe JP did an article on putting 35s on a TJ w/o any lift, just body mods and minor suspensions tweeks, 33s would be a little less hard core. big tires, lift or no, will require a gear change (33s might be do-able) Might as well throw in lockers then too: $1500+ and labor. don't forget added stress to the braking system, axles, stearing components, shocks, and especialy wheel bearings. what I've read; a Dana35 is good to 33s, a D44 to 35s a tall lift will need, longer brake lines, transfer case mods, and new drive shaft(s). the OME kits seam good, but pricy. I hear they only make the short lift because thats the law down under. The further from stock you go the more it breaks. can you aford repairs and down time? I suggest throw that coin toward a winch to hall your stuck and stock ass out. bottom line, if Dad is paying the bills (and I'm not just talking about the price tag on the lift kit), Dad is making the rules.

if you buy ur own kit and build ur own jeep(instead of runnin the shop for repairs and mods) u will have more respect for it not to mention knowledge. u will know what "that ' sound is and know how to fix it and learn how to make trail repairs. i drove home with a duct tape fan belt one time, ir i had no idea what was going on under that hood i would have been up a creek with no paddle. the point of my ramblings is the more u know about ur jeep the better off ull be driving to the grocery store or thru ur favorite mud hole and safer.

just get a 2" BB lift(spacers) for now,and a 1" body lift. You should be able to fit 32/33 and you won't need to modify much to do it. It's also cheap!! It's true the higher you go the more parts/money it will cost and do you REALLY need a 6" lift?? most ppl want more then they really need just so they say they have it........

I vote no lift. Keep it low and stuff some decent sized tires under it. Cut the body if you have to. You'll be happier.
Unless of course, you're building a mall crawler, Then I'd go for a spring-over and buy every piece of chrome you can find that will glue to the side of a Jeep.

okay i got mine and it was stock as it gets i didnt drive it a mile before i got some black steel wheels made by unique(carlsie *** and some bfg 31x10.50 all terrains its sliver with a black soft top and half doors. Mine is a 4.0L 5 speed.
it seems wierd to me that you have 15x6 super swampers when super swampers are a brand of tire that you measure by 30,31,32,etc. rims are measured 15x6 15x7 and so on. sounds like you have a jeep that dont have all the mods that you talk about. You need to read your off roads and jp a little bit closer. If im wrong because you made a mistake sorry, but it seems that way to me. If you need some tips because you dont know that much ill help you out, it really seems as if you might be bluffing.

tires used to be measured all sors of ways, and with the older stuff, the old measures stick around.

Who paid for this jeep anyways?...............If they did then they have EVERY right to say what you do, but if you have a job and paid for it yourself then just do it.
