you've lifted a xj right? Any sugestions on how to be able to clear a 32 or 33 with out a super expensive lift? Reason I ask is not only do I have a tight budget now because of a new born son but I also just found out that sometime in the near future theres a good chance I'm gonna have to have neck surgery. So yeah gotta build cheap. Also you wouldn't have any sugesstions for building my own heavy duty bumper? I was thinking a heavy walled steel pipe welded to a set of stock bumper brackets but never tried so don't know how it would work. Oh and have you heard anything about power trax lockers? I was thinking about their lock rite locker but they say to use their newer locker (modified version of the same thing from what I can tell) because it doesn't click when you turn. All I know for sure is there is about 150 dollar diff between the 2. Any info you can give will be helpful

you can use jeep grand cheroke springs to get you about 1" in the front, then I'd go with 2" spacers, so that's up front. Out back you can go with new springs (3") or add a leafs and spacers. To fit 31, to fit 32 33's you can trim your fenders. I'd go with the Richmond loc right because richmond has a good rep.

to lift it that much will I need a tansfer case lowering kit or a slip yoke elimnator? Not to sound like a idiot either but how do you go about trimming the fenders? never done it before so I don't really know how to go about or how to cut it. Should I use a hack saw, torch, saws all what?

Well, I've only gone to a 3" lift and that really wasn't a big deal. I have plenty of clearance for my 31-10.5/15's with that lift but I suspect that 32's would also fit fine with maybe some clearance issues on really tight turns. One thing I have learned in the past however is this, do it right the first time. Even if it is more expensive initially, it will save you money because you won't be spending money to replace parts you already purchased. Sorry, but the only experience I have had with lockers is with my old FJ40 which was for offroad use only. It had a mini spool in the rear and a stock front. I sure miss the PTO winch it had though. Also, for less than the price of a major name bumper, you could buy a small wire feed welder and build your own bumper and roll cage, etc. That's what I will do once I get back from Taliban heaven or hell, whichever. Good luck.

Look on e-bay. You can find some very good deasls on a basic 3" lift. I got a decent kit with new front springs, rear add a leaf, 2 degree wedges and shocks for about 250 bucks.

I would look into 4wheeldrivehardware. You can get a FULL 3" lift.(springs, shocks, tcase drop etc) for 429. That's not bad. It's their own brand so not a big brand name ,but who cares If it works. That's the kit I'm going with because of the price. you can always add spacers after to get even more lift.
