I'm interested to hear an update on your install.

I'm going to be swaping a 4.0L/NSG-370 from a 06 LJ into my 99 XJ.  I also installing the cpu from the LJ and am going to be keeping the NP231.  It had a 4.0L/AX-15.  Is there anything I should look out for considering the new engine & tranny come with the CPS already?  The AX-15 and the NSG-370 have a 23 spline output shaft and are 24 1/2" long so they should mate right up fine.

I have a 1999 WJ and am very interested in swapping in the NSG-370. Any major differences between the WJ and any of these other swaps?

What is the difference between the NSG370 used behind the 4 cylinder and the one used with the 4L six, other than the front case half (looks like a bell housing)?  Is it possible to change out the front case half from the 4-banger version with a new 6-cylinder front case half and have a unit workable behind the 4 L?  It looks like it should work assuming the input shafts are the same.

I have a 06 lj and dont really like the 6-speed. I like the longer wheelbase, but whish it had a 5-speed (nv3550)has anyone made this swap? If it is a possible swap I will have an (nsg370) 6-speed for someone one else to use on there swap (cheap).I would think a new driveshaft will be needed also?

The main thing is first gear. Its really not an easy gear to use around town. At stop lights, you can see people behind you hit the brakes when you shift from first to second......

The engine bolt pattern and case are different. The NSG370 does not have a removable bellhousing so this will not work.

I am in the final stages of my 05 six spd. Transmission swap into my 98 sport. Everything lined up great. I used the 05 clutch, fly wheel, slave cylinder and clutch resevoir.  I used the transmount from my 98 a couple of homemade spacers (very minimal 1/2 inch).  I purchased a 17 1/2 inch long 35 deg down angle cv drive shaft from Tom Woods.  It cost more than the trasmission.  Put everything together and tried to start. And no start. I tried contacting RubiconRick from his above post (old post) he said contact Advanced Adapters for a crank angle sensor relocation kit. Awaiting reply Good luck!!!!!!

OK fellas heres the 6 spd trans swap answers. With my swap for my 98, after speaking with Advance Adaptors, if you use the 05 fly wheel, which i did, it won't work with just splicing the factory harness to the new sensor harness. You gotta use the 98 flywheel so the sensor get the right reading. If I had used the 98 flywheelthe splicing would have work and I'd be rolling. Now if you don't feel like pulling the trans again to change out the flywheel. you can buy the sensor relocation kit from  Adavnce Adaptors p/n  716012 for about 300 bucks depending where you live and fast you want it. Good luck and happy trails!
