Looking for feedback, comments, ideas, suggestions, pros/cons of aluminum jeep frames for cj-5, cj-7, and cj-8. Would there be a market for them? would you want one? I plan to start by making a jig from my cj-8 frame. reply here or contact me directtly at madfalcon28@yahoo.com

The comparative light weight of aluminum to steel may seem lucrative. However, I think the cost of using the correct material will be prohibitive. Using the wrong kind of aluminum can result in a rigid yet brittle frame. Typically aluminum is more rigid than steel. It won't flex. But eventually it will simply fail without any signs of fatigue. Having said that, I believe there are several types of aluminum that could make a good frame, such as 6061, 7005 or 7075 among others, if designed properly.
But just know ahead of time that it's not as versatile or as easily repaired as steel.
