The last few times I was 4wheelin', the t-case took several minutes before it would come out of 4 wheel drive. Went out yesterday for a few hours and now it will not come out of 4 wheel drive at all. Tried backing up several times for quite a distance to no avail. T-case is full and clean. Anyone have any ideas? I have an '03 Rubicon automatic.

I did let it idle in neutral for several minutes, but it did not help. Thanx for the suggestion.

you might try letting it roll in neutral while you pull it out of 4 wheel drive.

Also, I forgot to mention, the shift lever goes down into 2 high, but the transfer case is still in 4W high and the light is still on.

Ohhhh, you have a linkage problem then. Do you have a body lift, motor mount lift, or aftermarket T-case skidplate? Even if you don't it's a fairly common problem.
You might want to look into an isolated shifter kit from Advance Adapters or the Novak kit HERE.

Can't THANK YOU enough, just like you said, it was a linkage problem.
Now I can breathe a sigh of relief it was not the Transfer case.
Thanks everybody.
