Does anyone have a TJ, NON-RUBICON Dana 44 rear axle that they no longer want? I'm looking to swap one into my 1994 YJ. The gear ratio does not matter as 4.88 gears will be swapped in along with an OX locker. I do want one that has disk brakes though. If you happen to have one without disk brakes, I will still consider it if the price is good enough. I'm also looking for a front Dana 30 without the vacuum disconnect. It will be recieving the same treatment as the rear axle.
Thanks

No, all that'll be cut off. I'll keep my spring under for now. I just want the added strength of the gears and axleshafts, but still have easy to find parts.

a ford 8.8 out of an explorer will be an easyer find and swap for the rear, or some waggy axles front and rear (both dana 44s)

Aren't those full width axles though? I'm not real big on having to have the tubes shortened. My YJ is still my daily driver so I'm not doing anything too extreme yet. And I'm just running 33's, but the reason for upgrading is so I don't have to worry as much about breaking something.

an explorer8.8 is a little narrower, an inch and a half or so - ive been running one in my tj for a few years, waggy axles are very close to your stock width

They do make an ox locker for it. How much fabrication was needed to get the brakes to work? I looked, and 4wd.com has the e-brake cables for the swap, as well as the suspension brackets, and replacement axleshafts that are the correct lug pattern. For 1995 and up 8.8's anyways. Are you running wheel spacers to match the front track width? Also, what was needed regarding the pinion yoke? And do you know what a reasonable price would be for one with disk brakes?

a 96 and up 8.8 has disc brakes from the factory, and the same bolt pattern. you will need a yoke instead of the flange style. no spacers on mine, i have 15x10 in rims with 4.25 or 4.50 backspaceing, i dont remember wich but i never rub. as far as brakes i got an 8.8 hose kit from currie and bent my own lines from parts store lines

Was it just the flex hose kit? On the site it's $37? Where did you get your pinion yoke? Also, was your yoke offset to one side? Did you just leave it? I don't know if it would be enough to cause any vibration issues or not. Thanks for you help though.

Thanks. All this info has been a lot of help. Too bad the front won't be this easy.

Well, gave up and just bought an 8.8. Disk brakes (need turned, but otherwised in great shape), trac-loc, and 4.10 gears for $225. Anyone need an explorer sway bar with end links? Apparently that was an added bonus with the axle.
