Ok I bought this Jeep used in bout 1990. I have used it to wheel all over including Attica. It has been out of commission for +5 years. Let me tell the good and bad. It has a strong stock I6 motor. I fire it up every few months but the carb needs rebuilding (stock) I have done it once many years ago. It has been sitting so I am sure it is gummed up and might have bad gas in it (tank). But if you spray the card with cleaner or put gas down the throat it will run and run well. The frame is in very good shape with no rust throughs mostly surface. The exhaust is in good condition. It has a hardtop that is in good shape (original). Has good 15x8 steel rims with mud terrain tires and a spare (sorry not all tires match) and I think I have a few extra rims with it. I have an original over-sized stock @20gal tank (separate) the skid plate on it rusted out so I put in a stock steel @15 gal with a new skid-plate so I have a tank sitting around. It has good aftermarket @3inch lift springs I think they are from skyjacker. It has bombproof u-bolt skid plates and Currie lift shackles. It has custom drive shafts from tom woods I think or the other well know manufacture. It has a bombproof manufacturing rear bumper with the built in air tank capability to it (this bumper cost me more than what I am selling the whole jeep for) has hard doors and an extra set of hard doors all are rusted badly. the body is very rusted. the tranny is stock but last time i had it out second gear was gone. brakes need overhaul. stock axles never spun but with leaking rear diff cover (aftermarket stainless steel) spare tire carrier is stock and in good condition. tires all have plenty of tread left and no flat spots. has steering box stabilizer add-ons with upgraded mounts. has Currie twin stick shifter. mile-marker hubs and the transfer case is in great shape and the four-wheel drive works excellently. stock gearing open diffs.
I am getting married in 3 wks and wanted to put new body on and fix it up but I need the money. If it doesn't sell in @2wks I will take it off because I need the money to help pay for my wedding and bills. Again the frame mother suspension bumpers tires/rims hardtop drive-train (except for tranny) all are in good working condition but the carb is fouled and needs work to run. the body is shot. the brakes need work and the rear diff needs to be sealed at the diff cover not pinion or tubes. and of course the rear bumper is AWESOME but stupid expensive when I bought it (just before bulletproof manufacturing went out of business)
I like the 1982 and later CJ's because they had the wide track axles they were only a few inches total wider than the 1981 and earlier CJ7's so they drove much nicer and wheeled better.
I hate to part with it we have been together for a LONG time and kinda wanted to keep (my first jeep) but money talks.
The jeep will need to be towed away.
I live on the Illinois/Indiana border in Calumet City.
