part time 4x4 light issues

I own a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Classic and today I noticed the "Part Time 4x4" light in the gauge console is not working any more. I never noticed before but the light by the transfer case handle is not working either. I know the 4 wheel drive still works but the light don't. What could the problem be?
