Oil Gauge / Oil Pump ???

77cj5 304, during warm-up period the oil gauge is at about 20 at 1500 rpm, once the engine is at operating temp the gauge goes down to 0 at 750 rpm, when running at 1500 to 3000 rpm it never gets above 12. I just installed a new dui hei, could be affecting this? Oil pump gone??? Is it possible that prime was lost some how?
I am not sure as the engine does not overheat and seems to run fairly well once warmed up.
any advice would be appreciated
