Alright,

I'm new to the jeep world and would like to lay out my story in hope of a lead in the right path, to start with the end, I have a 258 that came out of an 83 CJ7 mounted in my 79 CJ7.
Now comes the comedy, I am not a mechanic and have little experience with installing engines.  I bought my father in-law's home a year ago and with it came his CJ7 that needs restoring.  I have plenty of garage space and tools however my wife was insistant on keeping the stock engine in the jeep (centimental value), I have a 350 also from a former project but she won't go for it.  I have never installed an engine on my own before.  I bought a complete and running 258 (83) for a great price and now have it mounted in my garage.
And comes the point where the most of you fall on your floors and start laughing, I am now COMPLETELY halted, I don't know what goes where or what hooks into what at all.  I am simply looking for some sort of walkthrough, I have referenced the manual a couple times but that is only definitions, I hope somebody out there can help, I also hope this is enough info.  To reiterate, the only thing attaching this engine to the jeep is the motormounts, everything is hanging all willy nilly.

Thanks
Mac

Let's just assume that you are for real.  If so, then where are you located ?  It might be useful to let people know this in case you find someone willing to help you out.

Do you have a full shop manual or just a Chiltons or Haynes manual, which I personally find rather useless.
