I have a '47 CJ2A with the original L-head and transmision. I was wondering if there is a transmision that I can put in that will make it go faster than 35 miles an hour but I can still keep the original motor. Thanks

A tranny swap won't speed you up much. Sounds to me like you are down on power. Should be able to get 45-55 mph out of your Jeep. Timing set right, getting plenty of fuel and air, good compression?

Remember those motors can spin 3-4K all day long and not care at all, so they tend to make a bunch of noise along with the tranny, t-case, aw heck the rest of the JEEP.
If you really want to lower RPMs install a Warn/ATV all Range overdrive from Hermtheoverdriveguy.  The ~$900 is less then a tranny swap and it only increases the value of your JEEP.

Well the motor is pretty worn out and burns some oil. Also, at 35 the oil pressure gauge reads 65 or 70 and the engine sounds like it is really wound up.
