I was wanting to know if the '79 CJ's with the 258 came with a catalytic converter from the factory. Mine didn't have one on it when I got it, but I don't know if it came that way from the factory or if the previous owner had removed it. Any info would be apperciated. Thanks.

most likely not. but if your worried about meeting emmisions standards your jeep is going to be exempt. the cut off is 30 years or over.

I have a 77 CJ5 304 in Arizona did not come with them but I had to add a set of catalytic converters to the headers. This happened about 10 years ago. I recently moved to boonies, well 30 miles south of Phoenix and now I have no pollution restrictions what-so-ever.

Does anyone know if the Iron Duke powered Jeeps had a cat? Mine didn't have one and I plan on putting it back into another Jeep someday.
