Use the missing handle end of a file. Drive it into the keyway slt and break it off. Its not a perminate fix but it should hold long enough to make it home.

I think you must be talking about the Model 20 or early Dana 44. Another good trail fix is to simply weld the large axle nut to the shaft and hub. I've had this fix work for several thousand miles on- and off-road. It's a pain to take apart though.
