Most people find it blasphemous that Jeep even makes 2wd vehicles. They certainly aren't covered in the pages of Jp with any frequency. Probably because the editors know there's not much interest.
Hairpin mono leaf front suspension? Come on! That's not even interesting in a traditional hotrod. It's certainly not what you'll find in today's rod environment as "cool".
For every page in JP that covers Sloppy Seconds, there should be an equal number of pages that cover a build of a Caddy or a Chevelle on a K5 frame. The guys that build those think they're cool too.
If the Chevelle had a really nicely done 7 slot grill to go with its round headlights, would you run it?

John-- Yes, I will like to read about it!
I've been driving for 20+ years and have owned & driven the same two CJ's since--
Soon after getting the '62 CJ5 on the road (with a top speed of 45MPH) and seeing my classmates and friends with all their sporty and quick cars, I realized it will be nice to go fast once in a while. A hotrod DJ then came to mind. Year later I got the CJ-7. While it (sort-of) allowed me to attian highway speeds and 'bark' third gear (T-4), it was no speed demon...
It is still a persistent dream of mine... a lowered, chopped, close ratio manual trans, and a hot-rod I-6 AMC/AM General DJ that sits 10" off the ground.
It will happen one day. Sometime after I finish the frame off resto on the CJ-5 and the YJ frame and 60's on the CJ-7... oh and then there's the kid on the way, and the bed I started for us, and the new rear patio...
It WILL happen. In the meantime, please give me some ideas.
Looking forward to the hot-rod CJ build, Peter

THE HOT ROD JEEP IS COOL!!!
even if you don't build it just to have a cool toy to drive around town build it to show readers how to install and set up an entire brake system, or doing some random body work. In the end the project will help all of us get better at working on our rigs. Not to mention that any true gear head will enjoy reading about someone building or working on something wether it be a toaster or hard core 4X4.
if nothing else people mite like it more if it had a bigblock in it!
I like it!!!!
-Cliff

I though it was cool, how long have we been waiting for juggy to be finished? I'd rather see that, even tho it's kinda out dated..

OK, I'm working on the Juggy, trust me, it's very close to done. Needs tranny fluid, tranny dipstic, fuel cell breather, side panels, oil, filter and I want to change out the radiator hoses. I don't like the ones I have. And a few other small things.
The Rod is close too. I need to build the windshield frame, put the fuel tank on, wire it, mount the radiator, and modify the seats among other things....
All the hard stuff is done on both of them. I'll be wrenching on both this weekend.

Why not but on an air suspension or hydraulics... that way you can bounce too!

I'd much rather read about the Hot Rod Jeep than another TJ or JK build. Cool and different builds is what sets JP apart from the other rags.

If you have always wanted one, then why not? Who cares if it's non-traditional, or cool? If anything you'll start a niche in the Jeep world. You already have a pretty sick fleet of trail jeeps, right? So build the hot rod and end up with something that no one else has.
