Hey all,

Just purchased a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Sport, automatic.  I got a great price on it and it had extras so I will be able to finish up what the kid didnt when he added the extras.  More than anything I like the look of a big jeep so keep in mind this wont be used for any serious off roading besides up some snowy hills and a beach every once and awhile.  What other modifications do I need to make sure I get this thing running right.  The modifications on it now are 3 inch body lift (I am going to drop it to a two inch soon) and 4 inch suspension lift.  35 inch tires have been put on as well so I know I need to regear it.  I am guessing I have to put a different axle on as well (but is this necessary without any off roading?).  Lastly what are people suggestions for braking modification?  I got some time and some money to put into it but I just want the basics since its more for the looks than the off roading.  Thanks guys, if you need any other info just let me know

With a 4 inch lift you should be able to get away with a 1 inch body lift and still fit 35's just may need to adjust your bumpstops. If you have the dana 44 rearend on your sport it should be alright for your planned activities as long as you don't ham fist the throttle too much. You will do good to regear it probably at least 4.88's for street and 5.13's for more power.

Thanks for the reply, the regearing will be done in the next week or so.  I just purchased the vehichle recently and not sure if the dana 44 is on or not, I didnt think it was stock and the seller didnt mention it.  The dana size should be printed on the part somewhere correct?

So I checked it out, I have rear Dana 44 and a front Dana 30.  Anything else I should look into suring up besides gears?  Any way to increase breaking power?

you may want to get a slip yoke kit and a cv drive shaft if it doesent have one, it will add strength to the t-case and help with vibration, as far as breaks you can get a rear disc conversion if not equipped

I have an 04 tj sport with the dana 44 and it has the disc brakes.  Pretty much what has been stated and work out whatever small bugs may come up.  With a body lift the factory t-case lever needs some addressing.  Hopefully the previous owner took care of that.  If not the what is novak lever is really good.  ftgiles runs that and it works really well for him, if my memory serves me correct.
