OK, I put a SBC 350 in my '95 YJ. It ran great for the first year drove it probably 1500 miles. Got it out for the summer and a trip up to Silver Lake dunes and on the first trip out It took me almost two hours to get 10 miles home. The jeep kept stalling like it was running out of fuel. I have a Holley 650 dumble pumper carb on it and just put a brand new Holley red electric fuel pump back in the rear by the stock tank. I'm running the fuel through the old in tank sending unit which multiple people said would work and it did for quite a while. I adjusted the float in tha carb to make sure there was enough fuel in the bowl. I'm at witts end here and running out of days until our fall trip to the dunes. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I had nothing but trouble with my inline fuel pump, (mine however is fuel injected) but you might check the ground on the pump. Bad ground will cause a starving for fuel as its not pumping properly. Undercoat on frame is usually the cause of your bad ground.
ohhhh!! sooo!!! AWESOME

I kinda have the same problem on mine. Only once it warms up. I have adjusted timing hoping that would work but no go. I'm at a loss. It starts once the temp outside hits like 85. I also get home smelling like gas, from what my wife says, after about 15 min on the highway. Once I get off The highway it's a struggle to keep it running.
That must be the engine gremlin I've heard about.

I'll check the ground but the pump seems to be running. Wouldn't it not run at all if it had a bad ground? My Jeep starts fine and idles for quite a while but if I hold the gas at higher RPM for a little bit it will just run out of fuel and stall.

Are your under hood temps high. Being an inline pump vapor lock is not an issue, but I wonder if it is vaporizing before it hits the carb. Haven't worked too much on carb Jeeps, so I may be far out in right field in this one. Also, is there an inline fuel filter that may be plugged?

Temps are normal and of course I would have checked the in line filter. I just don't understand why all of a sudden it is an hrough the issue. I'm going to try resetting my carb adjustments this weekend. The only other problem I can think of is if the original sending unit in the tank that I am pulling through is some how clogged. The fuel lines are the lines from the old fuel injection 4cyl. I have pulled through the old sending line and through the old return line and both have the same result. I've heard two stories. One says it is OK to pull through the old in tank unit and the other says to drop the tank and replace the old suction end with a straight hose. I don't want to have to do that but may have to soon.

Is there any way to tee in a pressure gague to see exactly whats going on? This way you can determine if its a feul delivery or a carb problem. You may be able to tee in a vacuum gague to the inlet of your pump to see if you have a bad restriction before you pull the tank!! Just throwing some stuff out there.
