I had had the problem of my Jeep shaking on the highway when I hit 55 mph, at one point I had to pull over because it was so bad. I got new tires and an alignment and it cured the problem. But to my dismay it was only temporary. I am starting to experience that shake again when I am going about 55 mph. What else could it be??

What kind of Jeep are you driving? What size tires and is it lifted?
Most likely what you're describing is "Death Wobble". Basically the steering wheel is oscillating back and forth. It might start out as just a shimmy and then build into something violent. Usually set off by road irregularities.
The biggest cause is a worn trackbar. Often it is the culmination of many things that are just a little off. It can sometimes be very difficult to remedy.
If you don't notice any abnormal movement in your steering tie rod ends or your ball joints, a new trackbar and a new HD steering dampener will probably fix your problems. But sometimes it's the trackbar mounts themselves. Wallowed out mounting holes, cracked, bent, or broken mounts, or cracked welds.

I once had what I thought to be death wobble what it actually was in my case yours may be different. The outer edge of my tires had gotten pretty rough from improper tire care and caused alot of vibration. You've replaced your tires and it went away temporarily. Just out of curiousity do you have some mud stuck inside your rims or any other material that could change the balance of some of your tires?

I had the same thing happen to me when i put my lift on. my lift was a 3". Took it to get allined and the said i need adjustable ball joints. took it to a friend of mine and he said that those would help but sorta a waste of time and money. He recomended Lower Adjustable control arms to move the axle more towarsds the front of the jeep. He did do some adjustments and it did help temporalery. I have not had the time to get the lower control arms.
Dirty and loving it!!
