Does anyone know how to move and replace the ignition switch on a 1980 FSJ?

If it's anything like a CJ ignition switch, the switch is at the base of steering column.  The key switch (lock) pushes a long rod that inserts into the switch.  So, the question is, are you replacing the electrical switch or the key lock?  The electrical switch should come out quite easily, just look at it.  As for the key lock, you'll need a service manual.

it is the key lock...............i lost my keys so i have to replace the lock.
I have it to the point where i need to push in some retaining piece.........but i cant.  One reference says the lock must be in the off position, one says in the on position........................mine is in the lock position.  Im about to smash the damn thing or get some local kids to "pop" the lock for me and start it with a screw driver.  Any help out there
