I got handed down an 81 CJ7. i rebuild the motor and etc. etc. and got it road ready with a 4" lift and 33" bfg's. I really want to play it in the mud and rocks. but i dont want to tear it up and basicly wreck it, bang it up and stuff. but for that i'd put Larger tires on it and install in a 4 link rear and maybe front. on ebay and stuff those jeeps my year are runnin for 10 13 grand. and if i do that ill lose that value but im not plannin on sellin it. should i just buy a cheep jeep and build it or what? if i buy another 1 it wont be put on the road
what do yall think i should do?

well first i would start with properly forming a sentance then you should decide if you want to have a full time wheeler or a daily driver. If you like the jeep you have but you still want a daily driver then keep the CJ for the trail and get something a little better for the road.

Boy, if I were going to call into question someone's English mastery skills, I'd make sure mine were in order first. That's funny!

As far as the CJ7 goes, if you could get 10k for it, do it! The only people that think they're worth a lot of money are the people that already own one.

They're really not worth much, outside of nostalgia. The suspension and drivetrain are primitive at best, by today's standards. And then there's the frame... and the body rust. No, if you want a solid 'wheeler, you wouldn't start with a CJ, that's for sure.

Sell the CJ and buy a cheap YJ if you want a solid platform to build on. It's not even worth debating the differences between the CJ and YJ.
