try spraying some carb clean along where the intake manifold and block meet, if you get a noticable change in rpms, up or down, replace your intake gasket. a bad leak could be causing a low vacuum situation, which can mess with your map sensor and fpr. also, check all vacuum lines for cracks or leaks

did you ever figure out what it was my 89 cherokee will run great untill you put it in rev.......rpms dropp and starts to miss any idea?
