Just bought a 97' wrangler with stock tires and rims. Putting 3" body lift on and 33x12.5x15 inch tires/rims. How do I determine if I am going to need wheel spacers or not?

You won't be able to put 12.50 tires on stock rims. The stock rims are 7 inches wide and have a backspacing of 5.5". You'll need an 8" wide wheel for 12.50 tires and you should have a backspace of 4.5" on an 8" wheel for a TJ.

Don't put on a 3" body lift. That would be very UGLY! But, a 1" body lift is not really dectable and provides a lot of benefits for future mods. Combine that with a 2" spring spacer lift and you'll have plenty of room for 33x12.50 tires.
