can i safely and realistically run 35x12.5 17" with a auto trans 2007 rubicon with out gear transmishion problems

not without 4.88-5.38 gears.
the tranny will die an untimely death from heat, It'll feel like a 4cyl without proper gearing.

thanks i have setteld on 4.56 , 17" 35x12.5 toyos auto trans seems like a good ALLROUND fit thanks again

I regeared to 4.56 for my 02 TJ and I run 35x12.5x15 with a 3-spd auto trans. IMHO, that gearing is a great compromise for on and off roads.
There are no stupid questions but there are a lot of inquisitive idiots.

With the 4spd auto, 4.56 gears for 35s is not even back to the original rpms with the stock tire size. The 4spd auto's OD is really hi (.69) and needs 4.88 to just be at the stock rpms. That does not even take in the fact of the greater rolling resistance. Ya, 4.56 for a 3spd auto, but no way for a 4spd auto. It won't even pull slight grades on the interstate without shifting out of od at 65mph.
I had 33s and 4.56 and the 4spd auto. I then went to 35s. The 4.56s are not ok. I now have 4.88 and the difference on the interstate is way improved.
