New truck junk

With the supported vehicles I work on routinely (as well as my own), I've noticed a disturbing trend. Subcontracted, outsourced, substandard junk. My own support truck, an 06 Silverado, has been a continuing source of dissapointment. It failed me again, this time charging-up the front-end of Big Bear (albiet no easy task and it did it with a slide-in, pulling my TJ) with the rear flex brake line inexplicably coming apart. At first I thought it was heat from contact with the exhaust, but no where near was the pipe. Thank God it happened at check-in, although I smoked-up the registration booth...sorry IE4W Anyhow, I beat the TJ with no-ills, but this dang truck has been a junker...all of which up to that point was just the low-bid crap, like window regulators, light switches, seat covers, latches, wipers, brakets, brake rotors, exhaust rattles...no core driveline issues.
This is the last one. No more, no mas. Next-up is the 63 D-200 4x4 with a ZF 6-speed and Cummins 6B 12 valve. Any subcontacted SNAFUS and I'll have only one cheap vendor to blame...me.

There is a distinct difference you can see/feel/work-on with the GMT 800's...99-02 seem to be pretty ok; 03-07 earlies got worse with each year. But F.O.R.D. was not much better, with the 4.2 Essex junk engine, the 4R100/5R110 magic exploding transmission, and most infamous, the 6.0. Dodge hit the market with the fantastic 47R transmission and the reliable Cummins CAPS injection. Bottom line...JUNK! It's like, "we've got the design, enineering, and marketing together so let's destroy the package with vended systems components from Chinese slave-labor camps!
