I got stuck in a water pit for 2 hours before i was pulled out. Water was up to the bottom of my fan. No water got into intake. At home I washed my jeep off under the hood and inside the floor board. Now my 02 TJ will not turn on. When I open the door the dome light doesn't work and it won't start. When the door is opened all it will do is beep and the speedomitter and rpm guage needles bounce up and down making a clicking noise.

Usually when the needles bounce around, that's an indication of low voltage. Did you try a jump or charging the battery?

dude if your nedles are bouncing and your having some electrical issues then you need to make sure that you didnt get your comp wet. theres a good chance you didnt but if you got watter in the the comp and fried it that would couse the problems that you stated. if you have juice to the jeep but things just arent working right then you should check to see if the comp did get wet. if it did then you should un hoock it and dry it out make sure its completly dry, then plug it back up check to see if the problems persest. this is just a guese based off of the probs you described. unfortunitly what you wrote was not quet enogh to use for a good diagnosis, so if you could give some more info on whats going on we can give you some better advice, but in any case it is always good to check your comp any time that you submarine your rig. but hey good luck on it and keep us posted on whats going on with

My friend has a 97 TJ that does the same thing when it gets wet. Not sure why it happens but after his dries out it usually runs fine.

Hey guys thanks for the great info. I unhooked the battery and the computer. I opened up the comp and no water got in, so I sealed it back up and dried out the comp connections and my jeep runs great. I let it run a while to help dry other components out. It gave me a chance to change needed fluids spend some money on parts needed to fix my electrical problems (told wife) aka new winch, new lift kit, and new fog lights!

I have a 2006 jeep commander and he took it thru some water, it did not start after this. We went back three hours later and it has started, but it is very rough and the engine light has come on. I drove it home and have a fan on it now, but I'm not sure what to do with it now. I don;t want to take it to the dealer becasue it will cost a arm and a leg to fix.
