hey everyone hows it going o.k. so this is what i want to talk about why is it everything i ever see posted about the commander is negative i dont get it what is so bad about it i love mine i have 6 people in my family and i want my children to ride in a jeep so the commander is about the only choice that will seat everyone safely (waggoneer's dont have rear shouldr belts not safe) of course if your looking for a hard core off roader your not going to choose a commander but if you have a large family that love jeeps this is a great choice for your everyday driver and weekend two track back road mud hole FAMILY fun jeep i wish people would stop bashing this fellow jeep vehical and tell people the positives it has for jeep family's also we do go in the woods with this commander and our kids and have never gotten stuck or even close thanks cant wait to here what everyone else thinks P.S. and just so you know this is not the only jeep we have also have 95 cherokee w/4.5 inch lift 33 swampers and other goodies and 90 cherokee w/ 3inch lift 31 A.T.

For me its upsetting, because I see what could have been. Before the "family friendly" commander was the rescue. Big difference between the 2. Both appealed to more families w/ 3 rows of seating. The hemi commander isn't bad at all. It should be standard. I used to have a 97 xj 3" lift and loved that thing. I love the box. So again we loose a cherokee to get a liberty? What could have been?

Ah... cause they're ugly. The proportions are all wrong. If they wanted a retro Cherokee look, they missed it bad.
As far as never getting stuck as an indicator of how great someone's 4wheel drive is... well I guess you bought the right vehicle then.
Most people who use their "Jeeps" get stuck all the time. I have 35" tires and OX lockers front and rear and I've been stuck in my front yard. Guess I should trade my TJ for a Commander!

And one other point, The loaded hemi Commander has a price tag of $48,000. A little pricey for the average Jeeper. Especially when a dependable Wagoneer on 33's can be had for aprox. $2,000 (junkyard scrounge for shoulder belts (aprox. $25). And is WAY more capable off road and will net around the same mileage as the commander.
And if the trails you went through didn't stick your commander, I could probably go through them in my J-200 in two wheel drive.
Get a real jeep! (pre '75)

If you want to know why the jeep you drive dosent suck then dont ask these oppinionated s.o.b's. drive it! If you like it thats what matters. I would suggest not talking about never getting it stuck. You havent realy tried if thats the case. Do what you want. spend what you want. drive what you want. I say jack it up, Put some lockers on it, build it for some more aggresive trails and wheel it all you can. If you dont like what they say about the commander, change their oppinion!

Funny story... when the Commander was first introduced back what was it 05 or 06 a couple friends of mine and I were bored so we decided to go out and test drive cars and one on our list was the Commander.
So we show up at the Jeep dealer and start talking to this salesman who had a very heavy latin accent, think like Ricardo Montalban (big booming voice). We get in the Jeep and we start asking about what makes it special and he turns to my buddy who is driving and in complete seriousness says "It makes you feel like a COMMANDER!".
It's been four years and we still haven't stopped laughing. Guess you had to be there.
Carry on.

Having six people in your family severely limits your options, particularly if you want a capable wheeler or a sports car. I think that I would get a diesel Excursion or a 4WD van conversion if I was in your position. Or his-and-her's JK Unlimiteds for you and the wife.

He didn't ask for Psychotherapy help! He said he likes his Commander.
He's asking people who don't like Commanders, why. He asked for opinions from people who have them (opinions) and are willing to share them (opinions). I guess that makes one an opinionated s.o.b!

Fair enough. The back seat isn't really big enough to fit anything more than toddlers, they have IFS, unibody, and you need a 2" lift just to fit 31s. They are also "cosmetically challenged".

ok. We didnt read the same post. I read the one where he stated that he loved his commmader for what he needed it for and didnt realy understand why people are giveing it so much crap. I did not see anything specificly toward commander owners.
as far as the oppinionated s.o.b goes. Its true of all of us(includeing myself). None of us will ever agree on what a "real" jeep or the "best" jeep is. In fact we tend to down other jeeps alot to be jeep guys. If you drive a cj you have to hate the yj. If you drive a yj you have to hate the tj, and so on. so yeah, we are all oppinionated. Lets keep it that way.
