here's the rest...

I got side tracked by this yesterday, and took off and left the camera sitting on the tool box..

had to cut the spring perches, move the axle back one inch and reset the pinion angle...

back to the supercharger..

the belt was kinda a run-around... the one sent in the kit turned out to be to short, I spent a bunch of time trying different routing, then called jack at avenger, after two different faxes with routing diagrams, we got the right one... the belt was still to short to force it on without busting the idler pulley mount... I tried, I hate feeling like a moron, lol..
anyhow my first attempt was the right routing, the old style chargers have a different pulley (4") that gets swaped with the stock idler to gain clearance for the t-stat housing... jack @ avenger, promptly called back when he realized it was the wrong application for me and I already knew I didn't have a 4" pulley to swap, I was thinking WTF... our parts conter had called and ordered a few different belt sizes and a 4" idler, the idler was cancelled when we were told we didn't need it from avenger.

got er done with a longer belt and avenger's corrected routing diagram..

here's the belt #  1037.. the supplied belt was 1033 and apparently does fit some.. just wouldn't work for me. the 1037 was a struggle to get on and left the tensioner maxed out.

some routing if it helps anyone...

charger pulley... a note on the charger idler pulley is, I added a 3/16" spacer to space the idler out so it would line up with the other pulleys..

power steering pulley

alternator/tensioner...

on to the next problem... there was a vacuum leak causing a high idle and it didn't want to idle down after a quick blip of the throttle..

after probing around with propane, I found the leak at the throttle body mounting surface... Avenger say's a common problem is the o-ring seal that seals the charger to the manifold gets disturbed when bolting it on.. I had put on a small amount of assembly lube cuz I figured it could possibly roll while lining up the bolts..

fixed the leak with a new gasket and some more grinding. it was just enough to not allow a complete seal

that fixed the idle/rev problem

today... I hacked up the AEM cold air intake to fit the avenger supercharger..

ouch.. lol

and the final product..

I mounted a relay to run the bilge pump for the charge air cooler.. man, it works to.. the water was pretty hot in the coolant hoses, after hooking up the pump and putting power to it, it got almost cold just sitting there at an idle.

I took the wires inside to the spare fuse in the panel and soldered up the connection.

an oil change included royal purple, I'm not a big fan personally of 8 dollar a quart oil, It's not mine so no argument here. I was almost afraid to spill even a drop..
I then put in a trans temp gauge for the automatic using a simple "pod" mount.

the wires got fished up with a coat hanger and I mounted the pob on the pillar..

during the test run I made i stopped on the truck scale... and wow.. 4750 pounds this thing weighs in at with only me in the rig..

my initial impression of the performance is very good, (and yes I had a huge grin on my face the whole time I was driving it!) I was suprised and avenger say's it'll get better as the computer learns.. it pulls very hard and gets the rear loose as you're getting sucked into the seat set at 4.5psi max...

just a blip without the brake on in the shop, the hood was still up..

anyhow, that's all I got for now....

Are you changing your mind about turbos also? There is just something about a blower and all that low end torque!

The best thing about a stroker and a blower is it can be built with low compression and then the boost can be managed at 10psi.

Now you know why I'll never get rid of my truck. It still makes me smile almost 10 years later!
