I am purchasing a jeep 06 rubicon TJ with stock tires and 16" rims. I am about to upgrade the suspension to accomodate 33" tires.
I am looking for advice on which tires to buy and whether I can fit 33"s on the stock rims. I am totally open to buying new rims, in fact I have my eye on some Dick Cepek rims so - if they don't fit on stock rims or they're just not right (although they can be made to fit)- I will buy new rims.
My goals are: 1) Off road driveability for my weekend warrior stuff while maintaining good driveability on the roads and freeways (which will be 90% of the time unfornuately). This is my daily driver in Southern California. 2) Good wear and tear. Looking for quality over economy (even at higher prices).
Was considering the new kevlar wranglers- don't know how they ride on the road.
Any help would be great, thanks.

You could run a 285/75R16 tire on your stock rims with no fitment issues... or get those Dick Cepek rims if you have your heart set on them. You can run 15" rims without fitment issues, and tires and wheels are typically less expensive for smaller rim diameters.
I am running a set of 285/75R16 Cooper Discoverer STTs right now and have been very pleased with them in a variety of terrain. They replaced a set of the previous Goodyear MT/Rs, which were very comparable in performance but cost a bit more than the Coopers. The new MT/Rs *LOOK* really aggressive to me, but the reviews I have read claim that the staggered tread blocks are fairly quiet on the road.
