Any rumors on how this will effect the Jeep Brand?

You can pretty much say goodbye to Chrysler. The only thing left will be who will get the Jeep brand because they don't have anything else that another company will want.

The deal that was made with Fiat requires Chrysler with the help of Fiat to create "fuel efficient" cars. That really means small cars. Fiat doesn't know anything that Chrysler doesn't know about creating fuel efficient cars. They build cars that they think will sell. If they thought people would buy Fiats in America, they'd import them and put their name on them. What a concept! Fiat and Europe builds small cars that are fuel efficient, not big cars and trucks that are fuel efficient. We don't want small cars in America and nobody will buy the new Chrysler/Fiat cars, that's why Chrysler is done.

Americans want fuel efficient cars, but they are willing to give up a little in fuel efficiency to have a larger, more comfortable, or more usable car.

The market place decides what cars to build, not a bunch of left wing wackos. Say goodbye to Chrysler!

Are Chrysler and Dodge still under the same corporate umbrella? If so, there is always going to be a need for large heavy duty work trucks. We have several in our family. One to carry all the tools and stuff, one with 4 wheel drive for the oil fields, and one to dump truck to haul aggregates.

If Chrysler filed bankruptcy, don't they in return get debt relief and protection against getting split into pieces and sold as such?

Not sure, but Jeep has to be one of Chrysler's more successful and profitable lines. I think they would cut out on the *** jeeps nobody wants and focus on what does make money...wrangler and cherokee.
I am awesome at breaking stuff....fixing it is another story!

Here's some data to shed a little perspective.

Sales Data for March 2009

Compass 923
Patriot 2,161
Wrangler 9,088
Liberty 4,066
Grand Cherokee 4,725
Commander 978
JEEP BRAND 21,941

Town & Country 8,099
CHRYSLER BRAND 15,519

Ram P/U 14,448
Caravan 9,003
DODGE BRAND 46,590

TOTAL CHRYSLER LLC
TOTAL CAR 18,786
TOTAL TRUCK 65,264

2008 full size truck sales

Dodge Ram 245,840
Ford F-series 515,513
Chevrolet Silverado 465,065
GMC Sierra 168,544

None of the big three sell more of any model than their trucks, even with high fuel costs last year. The other dirty secret is that Ford always claims they have the number one selling truck 20 some years in a row. Well, if you don't combine Chevrolet and GMC full size truck sales, I guess it's kind of true.
