You must have a 2000 or newer block and the casting number must be 53010449AA. Some late '99s also used this block. There were major changes for this block. All your accessory brackets and your water pump design are specific to this block.

Don't have a bad attitude about emissions. Not only are they a good idea for our world, they are an integral part of the engine control system. Not caring about the emissions aspects of the motor is narrow minded and will make for a poor running engine. They are generally no big deal when they are understood. It's a huge mistake to not take emissions seriously. It's part of doing things right. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.

One last little thing. Emissions are not a state by state thing. They are federal regulations. Each state controls how they go about emissions testing, but are not allowed by federal law to reduce the federal standards. But, each state can make the standards more stringent, like California and some other states do.

Click here for stroker info. Use the links on the top of the page. There's a lot of good general 4.0L info on this site.

i meant it as i dont have to worry about regulations for what engine i use. in my state you can put whatever you want into whatever you want. Also because my jeep dosent have any of the california emissions stuff from the factory.

Minimum emissions standards are federal regulation, NOT state. Your state just doesn't test. That doesn't change the federal laws which do care about the engine in your vehicle.

If you do it right and care about emissions, the value of the vehicle will be much greater to a future buyer, regardless of state.

Besides, you won't have any emissions issue with the 4.6 if you use everything else on your existing motor. It's really not something to worry about. A stroker will pass emissions in California.

So go get your block and get to stroke'n. The 4.6L done with 4.0L long rods, custom pistions, and 9.5 compression is very impressive. My brother-in-law and I built one for his Jeep and short of the exhaust note, you'd think there was a little V8 under the hood.

It depends on the compression, the cam, and the tuning. Mostly the answer is yes if the compression is above 9.0. It's the higher compression that will give you the excitement, not so much the stroke increase. If you're going to do it, plan on premium fuel and higher compression. The lower compresssion strokers just aren't nearly as potent. In the 225 hp range as opposed to the 260hp range.

They are Mustang injectors. You have to make sure you get the square electrical connector for 2000 and later Jeeps. Some people make the older style connector work and use a zip tie to hold the connector on.
