I bought a used 06 Rubicon about 5 months ago. After an off-road trip 1st and 5th gears went out and after some hassle, my warranty replaced the tranny. Ok. I decided to go off-road again and now I have no reverse. I hesitate to return to the dealer again but wtf? Do these trannys have a history of problems? I have had two cherokees previously and had no problems with either after going off-road. The only terrain I drive off-road is mud and then I have had only to use 4 high when I go into 4 wheel drive. I use 4 low when climbing a ditch bank in front of my house but it isn't anything radical. Both axles seem to lock in properly and it crawls just fine. t

Absolutely, take it back and ask them to fix it. You're not mis-using it by taking it offroad.
The 6spd does not seem to be problematic, but it is developing a reputation for not being as strong as the NV3550 that it replaces.

Thanx. I am an avid off-roader and really love the Rubi. I have recieved other responses stating the same that the 6 spd isn't as reliable as it's predecessor.

I have read about the 6 sp tranny being a bummer. But, I also read that Jeep started installing the Mercedes Benz 6 sp into the Wranglers, and also the larger V10 Trucks, (same tranny) I have that MB 6 sp in my wrangler, and have had no problems, so far.
