I have seen one in action and it was slow but got the job done. It wasn't too noisy either. I have a similar question on a winch I saw on ebay. It is called tuff stuff. Has anyone heard of it? They have a three year warrenty and specs look good but not sure.

I don't know about that winch, but I run a Smittybilt on my YJ. Have for 2 years now. Works great so far. The lever on mine isn't flimsy, but all the stickers and logos are fading and/or falling off. They don't affect performance though. If someone does comment about it sounding funny, they do. They aren't the fastest either, but they work. I love them once you consider the price tag. JP did an "Affordable Winch Review" or something like that, and the smittybilt was included. Should be easy to find on the website.

I've used one as a trailer winch and it worked well. Though I can attest to the clutch lever being kinda flimsy, that's the only part I've had break on a Smittybilt winch.
