Need some advice. I've had my YJ in the shop, three times now, to address a leaky tranny pan. It has been worked on by 4X shops and an AAMCO shop. My problem is that the pan leaks at the rear (t-case side).
The only thing I can figure is that I'm getting heat transfer from the exhaust bracket/hanger. . . .
My driveway looks terrible (any ideas how to clean it up? I've tried all the off the shelf oil eaters and cleaners and nothing seems to work).
Was hoping someone had some ideas . . . . thanks to all.

I have the same problem. I have replaced my pan gasket many times. No luck yet, but I also have noticed that my dipstick filler tube to the tranny leaks. More so after a hard day of wheeling. It is easy to get to and the o-ring gasket is cheap. I hope this helps.

What kind of gasket are they/you using? If its the cork style, then it'll probably leak. Go down to the dealer and get the rubber re-usable pan gasket. It cured my leaks. While I was there I also ordered the deep sump pan for added fluid capacity at the same time. Was about $45 or so and has a drain plug in it as well. Also, if you keep your current pan, make sure that its not warped/etc in the area where its leaking.

If it will not seal I would guess that the pan is warped. What about upgrading to a cast aluminum pan?

And then using a Lube-Locker gasket?

For the driveway, I have had pretty good luck with Comet cleaner or laundry detergent and a stiff bristle brush with some water.

if you use a gasket.... do not, use a cork gasket.
always use a ball peen hammer and knock the bolt holes out on the pan rail so the gasket will get compressed.
the leak has nothing to do with heat,.
the best method is to soley use rtv silicone sealant without gasket.. that's how they come from the factory. the only draw back is getting the pan off the next time...
