[/img][/img][/img][/img][/img]Hey I picked this jeep up for 2500 form the original owner it has a buick v6 with racing headers and duel exauhst also a 12,000 pound winch. The jeep only has 68,000 original miles. I was wondering if I got a good deal because this is my first jeep and also my first post. I am also wanting to find out any information on this beast. So any info will help I also attached some pics so might help with getting info on my new jeep thanks, Sean

Photos no worky for me.

Is the winch a PTO? Those "racing headers" are probably fenderwell headers, right? They dump out the side of the tub to mufflers under the rockers? Pretty standard. They do give the 225 a decent boost in power. Most were sold through Novak or Advance Adapters, which makes sense because a '61 would've originally had a F-head 4-cylinder.

I can't see the tub or rockers, but as long as it's not Swiss cheese with holes, rust, and rot I'd say you did pretty well for a running Jeep (considering it runs).

Info? I've gotta assume the drivetrain components are stock other than the 225. Factory drivetrain would've been a F-head 134 four-cylinder, a T-90 transmission, a Spicer 18 T-case, and a Dana 25 front and a Dana 44 rear. Gearing in the axles is most likely 5.38.

You can add a Warn, Saturn, or ATV Manufacturing Overdrive to the Spicer 18 to improve your freeway performance. An early Jeep flatty, CJ-5, or CJ-6 with a Buick 225 is a classic combo and one of my favorites. Plenty of power, reliable, easy to work on, and fun to drive. Just keep the tire size at 33-inches or under and the factory stuff should be happy.
