I was thinking of putting a pto winch on my jeep. What are the pros and cons of the two?

electric is the only way to go on a jeep.

pto's don't work unless you have an electric pump or the engine is running.

Pto winches do have a place.  They are certainly more controlable, especially in a "power out" situation.  Downside: As noted above, they will only work when the engine is running, but the biggest drawback is just getting the pto shafts routed to the winch.  If your Jeep has either a factory style or aftermarket Saginaw type steering sector box, the clearence will either be very tight or non-existant.  You will also have several more u-joints that will require maintance.  A good heavy duty electric will be much easier to live with.
