What are the benefits of a slip yoke eliminator?

I just got an SYE on my '04 Wrangler and I was wondering what all the benefits are going to a SYE over stock. I mean I know the obvious ones, like not having to lower transfers cases and the obvious strength compared to stock drivelines but are there any others that I'm not aware of.

Depending on which one you had installed, the new main shaft is about 30% stronger than the original. Also the new tailshaft housing is stronger. Most 231 breakage is either the main shaft or the tailshaft housing.
Another big bennefit is the double cardin u-joint. That cuts the working angle of the front u-joint in half. Drive shafts become weaker as the u-joint angle increases. Last, there is no angle in the pinion u-joint as opposed to before. This also creates more strength to the drive shaft.

if you break the rear shaft, you won't have to stuff rags and duct tape plastic bags all over the rear of your t-case to prevent fluid loss, during the limp home.

Good point. You sometimes forget about the benefits of not making the break-down even harder to get home.

I kinda figured on the strength of it being greater but I didn't know how much greater it'd be. It seems to drive better as well, less vibration. After driving it for about 2 weeks I would recommend getting one for anybody that has a lift. I've only got a 2.5" lift on mine and seems to have made a difference. I can also go with a bigger lift and not have to change anything on my driveline. It kinda gives me room to grow! Thanks for the input guys.

No. There are not any gearing advantages or changes with the installation of a SYE.
Depending on your transmission, you should probably be running 4.10:1 gears in your differentials. If you have 3.07 gears now, that will seem like a 30 hp increase.
Re-gearing your differentials is a very important part of putting on bigger tires that a lot of people miss. Gearing is critical to good performance.
Just try starting out in second gear, and notice the difference between starting out in first gear. That's what happens when you change tire sizes and don't change the differential gears.
