mine was wheeled with 32x11.5x15 for years with stock drivetrain  33's will be okay but if you go over that you might just wanna swap axles to get 5.13 or 5.38 for 35's and up  if you wanna keep it a stocker 4.56or 4.88 on 31-33 will juice it up but you will lose some mileage on gas have fun and good luck

4.56 or 4.88s for 31-33 is wayyyyy OVERKILL. 31-33 s with the 2.5 motor he wud be good with 3.73. he cud run 37s on 4.88s....my neighbor has a 2.5 clunker with a 5.5 rubicon express and he is runnin 37s on 4.88s

i was runnin 35s on stock 4.10 gears and if there was a gear over 3rd i never saw it to keep stock power on a 4 banger with 35 the gears should be in the 4.98 area but the closest you will find with a d35 is 4.88 if you upgrade you can go 5.13 or 5.38 depending on the axle if hes runnin 37 on 4.88 i hope he upgrades the transmission or he'll blow out fourth and fifth on an ax-5 been there done it the best bet is to go 4.56 for 33's that way you have plenty of power when you need it... the dana 35 that these come stock with hate a bigger tire and sooner or later it will warp the housing and more than likely will butcher axles ....
freak tell your neighbor good luck and hope he has spare axles lyin around or good gussets for his axle housing

thx for your guys suggestions theres a few different ones there and im not shure on wich to go with, i dont plan on going over 31" tires and no more then a 4 inch lift later down the road if that much, i wana get some of the power and mileage i may have lost with the bigger tires back (if it really is gonna help and be worth the cost), i only really go off road on weekends if that helps any.

Anyone got an idea for my gear ratio for my 4 banger wit 31" tires  im staying with them
I got a few suggestions and got no idea what to use to get my power and mileage back it has 4.10s now so wouldn't 4.88 or 4.56s be my options now?

i have a 98 tj with the 2.5 sitting on 33mt, i just put 4.88s on it got alot more power. i plan on going to a 35 vary soon, but i think 4.88 may be to much for you if your going to stay with the smaller tire. when i drive on the freeway its crazy cause i have to floor to do 75.

you prob get better milage, you will be doing more rpm's but you will be using a lot less throttle
