I bought the jeep 2yrs ago with 72,000 miles (83,000 now)with the weber 32/36 carb. It is tough to start requires pumping gas 2X and cranking 3 or so times. Runs and smells really funky. You get lightheaded standing near the runnning jeep for 2 min. I performed the nutter bypass (disconnected computer)and installed a Juicebox ignition, rebuilt the carb, new plugs, airfilter, wires, cap, rotor and tuned to webers specs.

The jeep would never pass emissions high hydrocarbons, but low CO. Need to have it running better. I am open to all suggestions! Help!

Your story sounds a lot like mine.  After installing a Weber on my '88, run like crap, ran ok before with old carb so I was wondering what I did wrong.  to make a long story short, found cracked vacuum canister under master cylinder.  Hope this helps.

just a quick question about the nutter bypass. does anyone know why the vac advance is switched from manifold vac to ported vac. did mine last weekend and is running great now. but couldnt figure out why the vac advance change is needed. runs great both ways.
my wife says i love my jeep more then her. i reply. will you take your top off and drive me to work?
