I just started replacing shocks on my '01TJ and broke a bolt on the upper rear right side shock mount...after a few choice words for the Jeep engineer responsible for this design....I humbly ask for any help/suggestions....I think I'll shower first....jl

The upper shock mount is t-shaped and is fastened to th body with 2 bolts threaded into blind nuts..the head end of bolt broke off with shank still in blind nut....I can't get to end of bolt to spray with penetrant...there is no bolt to cut off...I guess I need a really big broken screw remover thing!

that is a pretty common occurrence.
you can take a punch and knock the broken bolt/nut up, it has a small spot weld on it, another way is to put a wrench on it and twist it off from between the body and the crossmember... it's a PITA, without a body lift, tho it'll come off,
replace it with a new bolt and nut.

lol, ya if ya hve to you can pull the rear body/frame bolts, 2 near the rear bumper and 2 on each side along the frame, carefully jack the body up about an inch so ya can get in there easily. it's not neccesay tho, much easier depending on your skill level with PITA projects!
