well, of course part of the wanting the bumpers has to do with the looks. also wanting the Drings. Never thought of hacking the stocks, good point there, But yes I like the look. Giles that is a great looking setup, it definately adds to the look, But again I want the function too. I do alot of odd jobs with the jeep too, on my parents farm, basically everything you'd use a utv for. I pull dead or down trees out of the woods for firewood, haul a hay wagon around, and numerous general stuff. that too was a reason I was asking about the winching, I don't plan to winch up some waterfall, or out of a canyon, just michigan trail stuff, on top of the odd jobs. at most probably to pull out a mud hole, but as of right now i don't have any Wheeling buddies, so I don't really go to crazy anywhere because i'm always alone.

Hey man, it aint chrome, it's stainless.
It comes with either stainless or black, and I did take it off. That's an old pic... so kiss my a$$.
Maybe I should have got black. Looks good with nothing though.
Thanks for the belated advice

Giles, I think the bumper looks great the way it is. I'm not a fan of chroming out my hinges, grille inserts, body armor, etc.. But that stainless bar does complete the look if you have chromed wheels, hell even the Drings..... I've never seen a complete look at your jeep, but It's all about balance with the chrome/stainless etc. Ok SO, back to my questions.... I've been looking at the smittybilt xrc8000. For my needs that seems to fit my needs. My jeep is black but if I opted for the rear corner armor, and rocker panel gaurds I'd go with the black as opposed to the stainless look, Here on my local craigslist, there is a front tube bumper, side steps, and rear bumper all for about 200 bucks, but I'm sorry , the tube style *** is not my cup of tea. I do believe I'm going to order a rear bumper with the Dring mounts, and reciever. But aside from getting technical with the winch information Damn you Giles , I didn't get the feedback I wanted on what it's going to be used for. Also the Powertrax, rear locker. I've tried to ask this question before but no one answered it the way I questioned it. Here it is. Jeep A, is stock 4.0 auto, Jeep B, is stock but with a lockrite rear. I want to know where on the trail, mud, or snow, Jeep B, is going to shine above Jeep A with stock Differential. And please please break it down to the most simple aspects, that would be a difference. Let's say farm use, The fields are plowed, the crops are done raked in. Yet the fields are left rutted, and sloppy due to the rainfall, trenches from the Massive 8 wheeled John deer(4 wheels per side. ) NOWWWWW, I went through this last year, with my Z71, My father mounted one of his blinds to one of our small trailers, But I had mud terrains as opposed to his "family truck with all terrains", and I towed the blind mounted to the trailer back to the property line, through a deep ditch, and got his trailer set blind where it needed to be. It still sits there, His truck would never make it back there. this year I'd like to use the Jeep to move or pull that stand where he wants it. And of course being The Jeep man I am, I want to do it, making our Z71's look like trail bait.

jeep B is gonna shine in the mud pit and the owner will hate it on the snow and icy hwys along with some trail situations involving an off camber hill and spinning tires.
you need to get jeep C which has a selectable locker which can be used as a situation is present for it.
if it was a long wheel base vehicle a LSD would be more manageable.
I'm not real sure why you NEED corner armor. use the money for proper gears and selectable locker. my jeep has been on its side(s) and hasn't yet taken on dammange to a corner. you'll basically have to back into a 4ft tall flat bed truck to hit em.

Ok, so I'm ruling out the Lock right locker all together, You've all made good points and have made me rethink things. One question though, with say an OX locker, would that install as easy as the powertrax? just like a quick swap? Or is it the type you guys have talked about to other people's posts i've read saying that it needs professional installation? If it does require proffessional installation, that i could not do in my garage, is there any other selectables out there that I COULD do myself. My friend/neighbor who has helped me so far with my jeep, used to work as a mechanic at a Jeep dealer, but he's not into offroad and doesn't have knowledge of products. But yet he knows how to do these things just based on his general jeep know how. So i do have some professional help if that counts. Mud about the body armor, I am not interested in buying any, I was just stating that I would go with the black diamond plate over the stainless/chrome look, just kinda commenting about Giles' stainless bumper loop and those guys saying should've got black. I just meant to imply if i ever did go with armor that'd be color i'd go with as I don't care much for jeeps with all kinds of chrome (hinges, bumpers, grilles, mirrors, etc) I think alot of people over do it with that stuff making it look gawdy. So, yeah please answer my questions about selectable lockers and such, and again, i've not recieved any feedback about the smittybilt xrc 8,000 winch. Again my uses for it would not be climbing up waterfalls, or winching out of a canyon, just general trail use, and utility use on the farm. maybe yank someone out of the snow here or there. So basically i just want a light duty winch and that one is priced in my range. thanks again. BTW Mud, could you post a pic or 2 of your jeep with a side view(with the whole jeep in pic) and maybe an angled shot shooting from a knelt down position(bumper height), and also type in what size lifts susp. and or body, and tire size? thanks. I'm interested in seeing your setup.

2.5" HD rancho lift. 34/12.5/16 trXus m/t's pretty basic, other than suspension mods ya can't see that have no effect on the height.

since I have this awesome pic of ftgiles that isn't inside the shop... here's his modified 2" OME lift on 35's.. theres acos up front for a another 1.5" or so, .75" out back from the nth degree spring relocators, and 1" bl.. I'm pretty sure that covers it anyhow...

well, since I prolly didn't get ya what you were after... heres a 180 or so pics for ya to choose from, there's som suspension pics in there too.
as ya can tell, I don't really care what anyone else thinks i need or should do, it's all function over form, I can't remember the last time I washed it either. in fact I don't think there is one pic of it clean besides maybe when it was stock.. not sure if theres many pics of that in the photobucket, I have a few on my pc.
so.... when someone tells ya you're full of BS about 34-35" tires fitting under a fully functional 2.5" lift show em this... it sits 24" from the ground to the bottom of the rocker both front and rear on the trXus 34's
03 rubicon, HD 2.5" rancho lift, 34" trXus mt's,... lots of grime

Hey Mud, how'd you get my girl friend to stand in front of your Jeep?
Ox lockers, as with all other selectable lockers, are full replacement differential carriers. The LockRight just replaces the spider gears, which doesn't require the removal of the differential carrier. At least in the Dana 35. The Dana 30 you have to remove the carrier in order to remove the spider gear mate shaft, but you don't have to re-setup the diff.

WOW, very nice Jeeps guys, I'd love to know the secret to running 34/35's on your setups, Mud your rear bumper in the pic above, The "Warn", that's what I am talking about. I want something with the d rings, and the reciever (not soley for towing) but as hitch points for recovery etc... I can't look at the link to pics right now the fiance' is buggin for me to come in, I always lay with her at night she's an early to bed type of girl, so i wait till she falls asleep then I can come out and play on PC. haha I had to create a seperate ebay account so I could sneak in my upgrades, shhhh don't tell her. I am definately eager to see your photos, I haven't wheeled it since the lift, I will be doing some up on the farm Saturday ( My birthday hint hint ) you guys know what I want so pool together haha. Anyway I gotta get my butt inside or I won't see my 30th. But I appreciate the pic request, and info. Quick question, the Jeeps that see with the flatfender front ends, are those legal on the street? or do most states require fenders? Like as a start If I were to remove my flares would that be johnny law no no ? Just curious. Thanks guys, be back in a bit.

there's no secret to putting 34-35" tires under 2.5" of lift... re-read what we are telling you!
hey, the tree limbs rearrange em however they see fit, when I need to use em, I reach up there and point em... lol
an yes johnny law, if he thought for some reason your jeep was better than his, would bug the crap outta ya. there are tire coverage, and lighting laws. most tube fender are illeagal as heck if ya get caught by the wrong officer. I'd love to have some tubes but I also want tire coverage and theres very few tube fender that have full 6" flares. I'll be making some in the near future btw..
theres also more pics if ya go snoopin in my photobucket.. besides the link! lots of snow stuff from 07 and my other junk.
