Those years are 5-on-5.5 lug, not six.

Sounds like you found a later year or you ended up with a narrow-track Waggoneer axle. Hope it's right for you.

Thanks, I found a set of J10 Dana 44's that are 64 1/2" WMS-WMS, will work well for my build, with a few mods, now if only I could find a used Dana 18- th350, or th400 Novak, or AA adapter!
And the search goes on...

Did you get axles from a Quadratrac Jeep that has an offset rear Dana 44? Is that why you're using a Dana 18?
Tell us what you're building. Chassis and engine.

Yes the axles came form a quadratrac truck, no that's not why I'm running an 18.
I'm building a deer lease M1009 (K5)and the 18 serves 2 purposes: 1) Flat tows better than other T-cases; 2) off-set rear pumpkin works better on rutted, Southern logging roads...rear pumpkin follows the front (Willys knew what they were doing)
I will be flat towing a lot. Southern woods are easy on runnning gear. I ran K5's & K10's for years with 36" mudders and never even broke the first u-joint, just mud, no rocks, basically no traction anywhere.
The D20 (same case & gears as the D18)came in Gen 1 K5's, V8 Broncos and full sized Jeeps, so I know the 18 can handle moderate HP, moderate tires and an old guy behind the wheel. The truck will run the D44's, D18,350 Chevy, Th350...or th400, lockers, HMMV 36" bias, and off course a winch.
It's not a vertical wall, Rockwell equipted monster...but rather a purpose built 4x that I have been pondering for years. Odd vehicle, but I feel confident it will serve my needs well. I like the size of the K5 for hunting, and they can double as deer camp sleeping quarters.
I am doing as much as I can to keep the weight down. I may even adopt the Willys spring under, no wheel hop is hard to beat when your traction starts going away.
Instead of "Jeep gets 1 ton Chevy stuff"...it is sorta "Chevy gets old school Jeep technology"

Just currious what you're building.
Your initial "looking for axles" post was rather vague in retrospect. It appears like you have a very solid plan with very specific parts that you're looking for.
Nothing wrong with a Dana 18. Plenty strong, an ok lo range gear, and twin stick for 2 lo.
I thought you ended up with the "not as sought after" Quadratrac axles and were using a Dana 18 to make the axles work.
You'll have the freedom to gear the axles for a specific purpose, not worring about hi-way speeds. That's the only knock against the Dana 18/TH350-400 combo. Not having a deep lo gear and still be hi-way capable.

Thanks for the inputs, I suppose the Q-Trac 44 axles are not in demand because of the off-set and typically open diff?
Muddy logging roads really don't need a deep-lo, basically you don't need a low at all. I ran a 465 in a K10 for years, 90% of the muddy road trips, it was in 3nd gear, T-case in 4L. You have to keep the tires spinning pretty fast, to keep them cleaning out..lol.
I have a spare 465 I could run in this build, but I was thinking that the auto would be easier on the D18 & 1310 u-joints. Auto's can "rock" a lot quicker than 465's, when the forward motion stops. But I will mis the "L" on the 465. I only used it on hard surfaces to move heavy stuff around.
"If" we had any rocks or hills within 300 miles I would run the 465...but then again, I don't think I would put an 18 in a K5 if we had hills or rocks...I would run D60/14ff and a 205, like everyone else!
Thanks for your interest, I'll post some pics next summer when the "reverse" cross-breed is finished.
