Ok I am buying a 1997 TJ with a 4 cyl 5 speed with 63,000 miles for a song. I want to lift it to fit 33 inch tires that I already have. In reading these posts I have become somewhat confused at all the info that has been presented. If I have digested this info to the best of my brains ability I understand that a 2.5 inch lift will work. What I am confused about is what all components will be required to make this work with little to no issues. I only plan to use this Jeep for daily driving and mudding and snow, I have no rocks other than my driveway to contend with. I am reading about SYE's and TC drops and motor mount drops-help a newbie out as I need a beer already. Thanks in advance.

lol..
the best way is to use a 2.5" suspension lift.. springs, track bar relocation in the rear and a adjustable bar that drops the angle up front like a jks., bumpstop extensions, and new shocks for the lift height. a 1" body lift and a 1" motor mount lift..the mml helps eliminate the need for dribe shaft mods and t-case drops. bolt on the 33's and have some 4.88 gears installed..

Ok thanks. Is there a company that puts all this together in a reasonably priced kit? I also figured the 4 banger is going to be a little puny in the end but I am thinking a donor 6 from a wrecked TJ would be in the works later on as well. I have never owned anything newer than a CJ so I hope I will enjoy it as much as I did my old CJ.

I concur! going from my 90 yj 4cyl to my 98 tj 4cyl...ridiculous difference in stock ability! I just can't wait to have the cash to spend on lifting it...soon enough.
1998 Wrangler 2.5L 4cyl. 30x9.5 m/t tires, everything else stock, definite work in progress.
