Will 4.10 gears out of a Rubicon Dana 44 fit a regular Dana 44 Carrier?

Do you want just a simple no. Or do you want all the specs and then a no. How's that for simple. I bet you didn't think I had it in me did you? Damn, there I go. Too much typing. Ok. Sorry.
No!

But I was hoping for the reason why. I just don't understand why they would make them different.

The more you get into axle stuff, the more you realize that the axle type (Dana 44) is only the gasket shape and the service duty rating (1/2 ton). Almost nothing else about them is standard amoung them all.
There are many Dana 44 carriers that take different ring gears.
There are different pinion gears also. Longer, shorter, bigger diameter, multiple bearing designs, different size bearings etc.
The only way you can tell for sure, for many applications, is to lookup the bill of materials (BOM) that is stamped on the axle tube.
The JK Dana 44 is different than either the standard TJ D44 or the TJ Rubicon D44. The ring and pinion on the JK is much bigger and stronger than either TJ D44. The TJ Rubicon ring and pinion is not any stronger than a standard TJ D44, just different.
But, the JK does not use a different ring and pinion for the Rubicon vs the non Rubicon.

Thank you very much. Now I know I have to be very cautious buying used ones, or they may not fit. I hope the gears I bought for the front will fit now. My luck, they wont.

For a TJ front Dana 30, there is only one set of gears.
But, they are not the same gears that are in a YJ Wrangler or XJ Cherokee Dana 30. Those are reverse rotation, high pinion.
In 2000 and 2001 XJ Cherokees have a low pinion and a high pinion.
The TJ Dana 30 is a standard rotation, short pinion.
A CJ Dana 30 is a standard rotation regular pinion.
There will be a test!

So basically I sould find gears out of a standard TJ dana 44 and dana 30. That way I'm sure to get ones that fit.

I have a set of 4.56 gears for your TJ. They are Alloy USA gears. They have about 10k miles on them. They were about $150 each set. I'll sell both sets for $150 if you pay the shipping.
