What are the chances of putting one of those new rubicon Dana 44s on a 2001 XJ?  I have seen some coil conversion/lift kits for the XJ.  Does anyone think it is possible with just a little fab to swap them in?  Or is it just too complicated?  Any help/thought would be great.  Thanks

cut away everything you dont need on the housings i.e. anything coil over buy an angle finder a GOOD tape measure and someone who can weld and keep te rear as stock as possible i have found that doing swaps from leaf to coil sus. is alot harder than keeping the rear leaf and changing the housing form coil to leaf also buy a really good grinder and plenty of cutoff wheels otherthan that make sure the locker still works before you buy them

Wow, that is awesome news.  I like the idea of keeping the leaf springs cause I think that I can keep my current lift.  Any idea on how the track widths are different? Would that be a problem?

track width isnt really important ...well to me. any way most of the time you fight a constant battle with gravity's center the higher you go the wider the better as long as you respect the laws of your state and localities. i used ford 44 up front and a wagoneer 44 back so my total front was 6" over stock and the back is over 2.5" but you must remember to measure a thousand times to make sure you have everything straight and square also most pinion angles should be close to 6 degrees diference as possible or you get bad vibes that exp talking anyway you should have fun doing a swap like this i did mine in three days in my driveway and soon will do another one to switch the back to a 14 bolt or a 60

I could see how pinion angle on the rear could pose a problem with wagoneer rears, they are also off set..

pinion is really bad for the rear thinking of getting 14 bolt from a friend to center it but then id have to empty another pocket and spend this winter in the driveway too
