2000 wrangler, 4.0L battery sensor????

i have a 2000 wrangler. and my battery temp sensor is on???? i dont even know where this sensor is located under the hood???? i did replace battery. past battery actually blow up.... hahaha. this was over a year ago... please help. thanx alot in advice..

Im not sure I know what you mean by battery temp sensor. You may mean the charge meter.

Exploding batteries are no laughing matter. Most of the time they catch on fire when they do that.

Make sure your not grounding your cables out on any thing. Look at anywhere the cables touch steel to see if it has worn through.

Next thing I would do is see if the battery is over charging. If your above about 14.8 volts roughly you have a regulator problem.

Check the charging terminals on your altenator to be sure that they are tight.

yeah, the red light is an idiot light to tell you theres less than 12volts in it...

no punn intended....

well auto zone and advance auto have hoked up to my jeep. and the code comes back battery temp sensor.... but the engine light is on the dash..

Lol I always NEVER trust them.

Do you remember the code number? The generic scanner doesnt get the code definition from the computer usually. They recieve it from a code base inside the scanner. Most codes are universal but some relate only to that vehicle. In your manual it will have a list of generic codes and how they apply to the jeep specifically.

Take a multi meter and hook it up to your altenator and read the output voltage of it while its running.

Just to add my two cents when I relocated the battery on my 98 TJ there was some sort of a sensor just under the battery. could that be a battery temp sensor?
