I have a 01 TJ 2.5l with a 30R . Is there a better transmission that will fit or is this one worth rebuilding. I drive it daily but take to the trails also.

You might be able to source a AW4 from a 2.5L cherokee with the 4-cyl bell housing. that could be a cool swap for a bullet proof OD auto trans, but they are hard to find and may have only been in XJs or MJs from the late 80s early 90s? I have no idea how that would work with your wiring or computers. I also cant give you any info on the 30R, but I can attest to the AW4s extreme sturdiness! I guess you might be able to run your engine off of a manual computer and then just use the computer for the transmission. I am not sure of the details though. I guess it would suck if it did not work, and you might be the first person to try it?

Thanks for the info. Still trying to find a AW-4. Havent had any luck yet. Sounds like a fairly easy swap.
