I'm not sure why anybody says that a spacer would ride like crap. You're not the first person I've ever heard say that.

If a spacer changes the way your vehicle handles, it has to do with the suspension geometry being changed and not because the spacer changes the ride characteristics.

A spacer lifts the Jeep and would not affect the ride quality any differently than a spring that would lift the Jeep the same amount.

If anything, the lift spring might ride worse because most lift springs are stiffer and not variable rate.

So, the best ride you can get from your TJ without changing control arm geometry, track bar geometry, and steering geometry, would be a 2" spacer lift.

That preserves your factory spring's ride.

But, anything over 2" in either a spring lift or a spacer lift, needs to have suspension geometry corrections. The more lift, the more things that need to be corrected.

So, if you only want a 2" lift, by all means do it with spacers and premium 2" longer shocks. Your TJ will probably ride better than stock, just because of the premium shocks.

If you plan heavy stuff, bumpers and winches, you might consider the JKS ACOS spacers. Then, when you weigh down your springs with heavy stuff, you can adjust them to a full 2" of net lift.

You can easily loose 1-2 inches of lift with a 100 pound bumper and a 75 pound winch hanging out over the front end.

The ACOS will allow you 2" of lift today and then another inch or two when you add heavy stuff. But again, you'll not want to go past 2" net unless you include other suspension modifications.

Just an idea go with the jks acos in the front (So you can adjust the front as needed) and an aev/nth degree spring relocation bracket in the rear(Which will give about a 2 inch lift).

and Nth spring relocators in back (gray things on the frame rail)...

there ya go!

has that thing ever been dirty ftgiles? LOL.

the nasty ride is more likely from the new shocks, the 2" lift changes the angle of the control arms which can contribute to a rougher ride, though it also raises it enough to keep it from smacking the bumpstops like they tend to do frequently over a speed bump at the grocery store so if ya get some good shocks like some soft OME shocks it'll ride better. I like the rancho 5000's myself also, I hate messing with adjustable shocks.

Here in Phoenix, the dust just blows off on the drive home. And the sun shinning makes anything look shinny.

It actually rained here a couple of days ago. I nearly drove off the road trying to figure out how to turn on the wipers.

And I've owned this Jeep for 3 years.

Can't even tell you the last time I saw any mud... Oh ya, I was in Seattle last week.

Yeah I like the acos and the spring relocaters for a 2 inch lift.  Is that the only lift you have on your tj?

No. I also have OME 2" springs... and a bunch of other Nth stuff... and a 1" body lift... and... you know the story. Those are 34.5" tires.

But, it all started with just that. ACOS in front and Nth relocators in the rear. Combined with a 1" body lift and an SYE, I ran 33" tires for a couple years.

Now, I never intended on stoping at 2" of lift. Otherwise, I would not have used the Nth relocators.

They are designed for a rotated axle housing for use with a cv driveshaft and SYE. If you were planning on staying at 2" of lift, you wouldn't need a SYE and then you would just use a non adjustable spacer in the rear.

Here is what it looks like sitting flat...

thanks for the help guys.  I just thought putting a hockey puck in my spring would make it ride rougher.  Thanks again.
